How big do you think she is (pic)???
Just wondering how big you all think this nate hen I caught a couple weeks ago is? Just for reference I am 6'2" and weigh about 215. She was the prettiest steelhead I have ever been able to witness up close. I have seen and caught larger ones, but none prettier! Warning: You may need your sunglasses to view this picture!
Sorry for the image quality...the pic was taken with a camera phone.
P.S. The people who were in the boat guesses around 19-21lbs.

What an awesome fish!!!! I'd say around 22 pounds from the picture. Did you get any length/girth measurements?

A really nice native that deserved a photo. To bad the camera phone pic sucks but it certainly gets the point across.

Re: How big do you think she is (pic)???
That was an awesome fish. I was fishing with Canyon Man whe he landed this fish and I can assure everyone that the fish was treated very gently. We played it for about 30 minutes up and down the river. Then we used a gaff hook to get it in the boat because it kept jumping out of the darn net. After that we put it in the fishbox while we looked around for our cameras. Since we could not find the camera after a few minutes we decided to use a camera phone. If you believe this story, I have some waterfront property I am sure you would be interested in buying.
All kidding aside. This fish was out of the water about 10 seconds tops. I had the phone cam ready to take pics long before the fish came to the boat. The new rule to keep the fish in the water is going to be good overall, except that it will impact the minority of organized and talented fishermen who have years of experience landing and handeling fish. I gues ultimately we will just have to get used to "in the water" photos.

Re: How big do you think she is (pic)???
Did you see the look in her eyes?
She was saying "who cares" and why is this barbarian drowning me out of the water?
Sorry Canyon Man but the pic is a totall turn-off to me and many other members on ifish.
Mind if I hold you under water for a minute after you got done running from a bear in the woods?
Sorry to possibly ruin your positive thread, but pictures like this are negative to others and I guess this is a good place to start.
Hope you handled her briefly and carefully.

I do fish and don’t appreciate the pic’s, but you and other’s do…
So enjoy the picture while some of us don’t.
Not saying you or other’s are wrong but simply it turns off other’s or they would be happier without.
Just another .02 cents on my account.

Re: How big do you think she is (pic)???
Uh.....Ty,
Some of us were fishing when you were still in diapers or just a far away thought in your mothers mind. Just because we feel that these fish should be treated with respect does not mean we don't fish. I'd be willing to bet you that, last year, I killed many more fish than you did. In fact I would be willing to bet you that on any given year from say '85 until I got cancer that I killed many more fish than you did every year! And 99% of them weren't clipped
This is a nice fish and hopefully it will survive to pass it's genetics on to many future generations of fish. I've caught longer fish but this one has some girth to it, in most of the steelhead in the stream in SE that I fished the fish ran much slimmer. It's every bit of 20lbs and probably more.

Re: How big do you think she is (pic)???
I'd say she goes 19.5 to 20 on the nose... She is a longer fish but the tail doesn't carry the girth that a buck does.. If it were a buck with the same length it would be around 22 or so.. One of the prettiest hens I've ever seen out of ORegon waters....
As for the Native Patrol you are some sad buggers... No matter what you say them fish are tough. Either you haven't caught such a nice fish or someone has brainwashed you into believing a fish out of the water dies.... Spend 1000's of days on the river and you'll begin to realize how tough they really are...

Re: How big do you think she is (pic)???
I know it's a nate. I was just making a point. I don't log on much anymore to ifish because of all the negative responses. This site has changed big time in the last year. You use to see great pics. and nothing but positive responses. Now, you can't post a fish without someone complaining about something. Too dark, too old, too brite......you name it I've heard it all. I think there should be a picture link that no one could respond too. What do you think? Just think of all the people that would be bitting there tongues. Im just jealous, beautiful fish glad you posted it. Keep it coming and don't listen to negative responses, just keep on ripp'n lips......oh wait................... don't rip them, set the hook very very gently so as not to harm the fish.....Doh!!!!!!!!!!
