Default 84 35hp merc jetting

Hi ya'll, So lookin through some books I found that a 40 hp merc from the early 80's has the same bore and stroke as my 1984 35hp merc. So does anyone know what it would take to get this extra 5hp out of my motor? Is it just carb jetting? If so, have you done this conversion and is 5 hp worth the trouble? I'm pushing a 17 ft. Westcoaster. Any input would be great. Thanks.

So I would probably have to switch carbs ? That is if they have the same bolt pattern.
