Default Transom Extensions

Lately, I have noticed several boats for sale that have outboard pumps on them. I've also noticed that several of these boats have rectangular transom extensions on them. Is there a place that sells these?

Here's an example of how a transom extension is used to raise the mounting point to accomodate a motor with a pump.

I ask because the extesnion on the transom on my boat is home made. The guy I bought the boat from 1-1/8" plywood sandwiched between two sheets of diamond plate. But it's trapezoidal shaped and does not leave room on the transom for a kicker. So I'm looking for another option.

Thanks in advance.

ORS - Most of them are home made or made by the shop that put the motor on. I'm sure a fab shop or dealer can fab something up. May even be an ifisher with the right tools who could help you out as well.

I think what you are showing in the picture is a "jack plate". Is it adjustable, or just fixed in one spot. Jack plates are adjustable. They're something to do with squeezing every ounce of speed out, ya know, for bass fishing . Cabela's sells em, if that's what yer after. Pretty sure they'd just fit the main motor though.

I know where you can get something like this built to fit your transom and kicker. If it's for someone other than me they finish painting them.

Keta - thanks! Nice pic. What did you do to deserve the half paint job. 2 questions - what kind of boat is that and what that ground-strap looking thing just below your motor on the inside?

What else are little brothers good for

No, I did some modification after I brought the boat hone and was too lazy to paint it.

You see that I DO have 4 zincs installed on the hardwater plate.

14' Smokercraft flat bottom w/lots of modifications (another good use for a little brother  ) The strap is a cable I usually have attached to the motor to keep it from coming off.

Now wait just a dawg gone minute here Keta. You're recommending I put one of those transom extensions on my boat and you are afraid that YOUR motor is going to fall off??!?!?!? What are you trying to do to me here?

I have hit submerged objects that have almost taken the motor off  I really don't like to salvage my motors off the bottom too often :depressed:
