Favorite Bible verse?
Ok, i know this may seem out of place, because it's not a prayer request, but i wanted to know what peoples favorite bible verses are. it doesn't matter where you get it, (eg: KJV, NIV, NKJV, ECT, or new testament or old testament.....) The motive behind this: I go to a morning bible study/ prayer group before school friday mornings, and I wanna know some good verses i can share.  Also, please quote the whole verse, not just where it is at. if that makes sense  ...
My favorite would probably be Psalm 71:8 "My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long"
Please help me find some good scripture to share.

Hard to narrow it down to just one! I appreciate the thread though because it overwhelmed me with God's Word. Here's one of my favorites:

Lately I've been amazed by Revelation 8:11..."When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour."
The breaking of each of the previous six seals unleashed horrors nearly beyond belief on the earth. And when He opens the seventh seal, the whole of heaven holds its breath in anticipation. Heaven - a racous, noisy place of never-ending communion and worship with God, falls silent in wonder and apprehension of what God will unleash in His wrath with the breaking of the seventh seal.
--It always makes me think of the scene from "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" where Frodo and Sam are climbing the hidden staircase into Mordor and the kingdom falls eerily silent before the signal to march to war is sent into the air.--

"All things work together for the glory of those who love God."
This verse so powerfully speaks in the world of tragedy we live in today. And not just tragedies of death, but all those things that are "signs of the times" as we near the end. It could be today or in 100+ years, but it's getting closer as our world gets worse and worse every day.
I'm glad I have a hope that goes beyond this world and that Heaven will be better by far...and that God will work all things together for us who love Him...maybe not in this life, but we will see victory over Satan sooner than we can fathom.

Okay, sorry this will be so long. I think this section of scripture really touches me because of what I came out of when God intervened in my life. Often we need to slow down and be aware of the "rat race" we sometimes get sucked in to like the rest of the world. Many things we "want" and labor hard after to get are called by Solomon a "striving after the wind". Sometimes we forget to have a perspective that is eternal. We get so focused here on earth and forget that it isn't our home...and then when I come to my senses and realize how I am living I usually feel humbled and stripped bare before my God. How sweet grace is! I love Solomon's words here: he had it all, refused no earthly pleasure, worked for all kinds of gain...and it had NO VALUE. Amen Solomon, and thank you Lord Jesus!

I also have really been enjoying this scripture. It is a good one to hold to in a time where man thinks so highly of himself. The more we know the more we are convinced God is dead and we somehow hold the key to control the universe which God has hanging in HIS balance. We are so foolish!

This is a great post!
This scripture was shocking to me when I first read it. I always was warned about Sodom and Gomorrah and their sins of...well...you know. But I was not told about these sins! This is a bit of a reality check every time I read it.
Ezekiel 16:49-50

This is one of the more bittersweet passages for me. It is vindicating when people oppose my faith, but it is heart wrenching when I see arrogance of man who so easily reject the Gospel. Deep down everyone, in some way and shape, knows the truth of God...yet suppression of that knowledge is mainstream and so popular. God claims we all know and nobody has excuse!
Romans 1:18-25
God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness

Hey ya"all, I'm fairly new here, but I love the lord for what he has done for me and mine.
There are many verses,..Many books,.... that I love. 66 to be sure..... But my favorite 2 are "For I can do anything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need" (Philippians 4:13) NLT.
My second is for all the vegans out there...."He saw the sky open, and somthing like a large sheet was let down by its four corners. In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds. Then a voice said to him, "Get up Peter; kill and eat them". (Acts 10. 11-13.) NLT.

Over the past few years I've meditated on Philippians 4:8 more than any other verse. Maybe it was to pick me up from out of depression, or to jerk my thoughts back on the moral high road. Also when relishing the good things in life, of course.

I have apparently overlooked this, but a verse that always makes me feel good when I am down or struggling is in Phillipians most know it but it always feels good to hear it again, I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!!!

My favorite verse is Romans 5:8....
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I love this verse because it took me about 25 years to finally give my life over to the Lord. But He had died for ALL my sins (past and present) way before I asked him to.
A follow up verse: Romans 10:9:
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved! AMEN
I pray that all would believe upon him!

Although there are so many favorite verses that it is impossible to pick one, this passage never ceases to jolt me when times are tough and I question Gods plan and where I am in it: Job chap.38:2 through the end of chap.42. Beginning in Vs 3. Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. 4. Where were you when ...................? If at the end you can still question God about anything you need to read it again. Look at the language, Where, Who, When, Have you, Can you, What is, Do you. It always reminds me just who has control and why I can rest in ease with whatever stage or place I am.
