Billy Chinook 3-6
I have been planning to take JZell out bull trout fishing for several months and we finally picked a date, March 6th. Since I'm not a guide, but he did want to show his appreciation for the trip we discussed compensation and decided that it would cost him his balls. Heres a pic of his balls.
I hope his wife isn't upset.
The morning started off pretty fast as we got several to the boat the 1st half hour. Here's one of my smaller ones.
Poor John was having a heck of a time hooking a fish as my rod kept going off. I got about 8 to the boat in the morning hours including this guy.
I didn't take the time to measure him, but he was well over 24"
I felt bad for John so I handed my hot rod off to him and then I hooked another one on a different set-up and handed the rod off to him so he could break his dry spell. He finally caught another one when our lines tangled and we had to hand line his 2nd fish in. I ended up catching all but 2 of our total catch. Final score for the day was 16 to the boat including 1 keeper size, released. Half caught on herring and half on lures. A great day on the water with a new Ifish friend. John is the 32nd Ifisher I have fished with and no longer a bull trout virgin. Hopefully his side of the boat will be the hot side next time.

Nice work Joe! It's great to see LBC kicking out some numbers of bulls. Maybee things have not declined to the degree I had feared.

Very nice fish Joe , but I think you've been holding out on me You never said anything about trading balls for fish If I knew that we could have been into that many fish, I surely would have swapped mine too

Great post Joe! I have been one of those Ifisher's in your boat and really appreciated it! I learned more in those few hours than I would have in a few years. Hope to do it again soon! Thanks! Balou

Nice day on the water! I love LBC but have never fished it for other than Koke's. I may need to get the boat out. Is there a how-to written up for getting started on Bull Trout anywhere?

Wow, great fishing report, not to mention the humor at the beginning that had me laughing out loud!

Re: Billy Chinook 3-6
Joe,
Nice work on the bulls! Putting up numbers and nailing one over the 24" mark too. Outstanding! BWild and I are headed over next weekend, so we sure appreciate the fresh report. Sure hope they are still biting when we head over the hill.
By the way, that was an expensive trip for JZell! Last I check those "ballz" were pushing $40 each. (Just teasin' ya.......more than a fair trade there!!) Unless, of course, those are "smaller" ballz than the picture shows......
Way to go man!!

Re: Billy Chinook 3-6
Way to go Joe, and Jzell. Awesome story and some great results. Looked like a beautiful day out there too. One of the most beautiful fisheries in Oregon, IMHO! Congrats again.
My guess on your fish well over 24 is around the 26 ro 27 inch length. My guess is 6 to 8 lbs. NICE!!!!
So, do I have to give you my "balls" to fish with you

Re: Billy Chinook 3-6
(Speaking in a very high voice)
The pain has subsided from the loss of my balls and Joe hoggin' all the fish.
I guess it's Joe's lake anyway....obviously!
Thank you Fish-on-bend for a beautiful day, great company, and a wonderful fishing seminar.
You guys in Central Oregon have such incredible resources at your feet.
Gonna have to come back this summer to chase some Kokes.
John
