Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Just found this on a map. Thinking about heading there for a buck hunt this year. Not necessarily just buck hunt information but anything else would be appreciated. Any information including rumors you know on this area would be helpfull. I moved to Eugene for work over the next two years and this wilderness looks BIG and FUN.

Re: Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Not a lot of game in the Kalmiopsis, lots of rocks and rattlesnakes though.

Re: Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Burned up in the fire in 2002. I fished there 3 years after that and it was pretty desolate, maybe it has begun recovering. It was great fishing.

Re: Kalmiopsis Wilderness
I raft the Illinois, and it's one of the most beautiful areas in the NW. Alot of bio diversity. I would think the burns would have gret feed, and that there would be some bigguns. Not a big game hunter, but seems better habitat than much of our mountains, as there is so much palnt diversity, there must be agood #'s of critters. We have sen some nince deer on some of our floats.

Re: Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Look at it in Google Earth. that should give you a pretty good starting point for timber density. If you are good, you should also be able to tell what kind of trees are in the area.

Re: Kalmiopsis Wilderness
Just recall the Kim family from a few years ago had big trouble in the early Winter. A friend sent me these photos from last summer.
