New AR build
After MONTHS of waiting due to the the election, my AR kit from J&T arrived yesterday. I spent about 1/2 hour assembling the lower, and viola.. A squirrel and dog slayer is born. (sorry for the crappy cell phone picture)
20 inch SS Wilson HBAR barrel
free float hand guard
2 stage NM trigger
Ergo Grip
6-*** stock.
Obviously I still need optics.

Re: New AR build
Very cool. I have a 204 chambered upper being built by White Oak Armament that should be getting done in April or May that I will be putting on a Stag lower with a RRA 2 stage trigger.
Have fun with it.
Mine will not have the spiraled fluting.

I'll bet WOA is really BUSY right now?
I know of a "few" Uppers and barrels that are on order now with them.
It looks to me like that's one part of the Ecconomy that's doing a thriving business!

Re: New AR build
Stillwater97 How did J&T Dist. treat you? I used them in 2001 or so. They made it all too easy for mine.

Re: New AR build
What are stripped lowers going for? This looks like an attractive alternative into an AR.

Re: New AR build
First off, most stripped lowers are equal. Don't get carried away on the name as most are machined in the same three to four plants. If you look, you can find stripped lowers for around $150 plus the ATF background check.
Regarding J&T..
This was one of the easiest purchases I've made online. It did take a while due to the elevation of a clearly anti-gun individual to the highest office in the land. People have over loaded the kit and factory AR producers. based on Attorney General Holder's comments regarding reinstating the AR ban of 1994, and the make up of congress, I'd say that this fear of a ban is legitimate.
All this aside, I started my order off with a 20 inch bull barrel instead of the Wilson Air gauged HBAR barrel. When I followed up and found out that the bull barrels were on a long back order, I was given the option to change my order to the Wilson which they just got in a large shipment.
I'm in the kit for about $740 with shipping and the lower cost about $150.
It took about 1/2 an hour to put the lower together and required extremely basic tools and mechanical skills. (It isn't hard at all)
I know that had I gone factory and not put the lower together myself, this same rifle would have cost me around $1,200 to $1,300.
I'm going to pick up another lower in the next couple of months and build a carbine. I'm definitely ordering from J&T for that as well.

RJS34,
Let me know how you like the 204 Ruger upper from White Oak, I have been debating ordering one. How long was the wait?
Thanks!

Re: New AR build
I went thru pricing out a Plain Jane 16" flat top and came out to $615/ up about say $75 from my 'kit' in 2001. Not bad.
I like their options offered today- many more than 2001.
