Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify the person responsible for dumping a cardboard box Wednesday morning containing deer heads in a Newport-area parking lot.

On February 18, 2009 at approximately 11:45 a.m. an unknown person reportedly dumped a cardboard box containing two mule deer heads in the parking lot of the Newport Walmart store. Anyone with information is asked to contact OSP Senior Trooper Doug Canfield at (541) 265-5354 ext. 304.

And the trouble is, this will just get worse as more people get laid off. Pretty weird, mule deer at Newport!

Sad ..... but most likely true. When times get tough, people get desperate. It is understandable, but not acceptable.

Seems like more of a taunt to me. Not being caught would be the very first thing on the mind of a person being forced to poach. They would dump those things out in the woods. Not a parking lot in the middle of town.

Those deer weren't killed in Lincoln County. There are no mule deer west of the Cascade divide.

Isn't there multiple security cameras directed at the parking lot? Seems like they could look at the tapes and get a license plate within a matter of minutes and have this case solved.
