Default Ana Res. Hybrids

Some buddies and I are going to head over there on the 28th and since I have never fished it I was looking for some ideas about techniques and timing. I've heard nightfishing can be good there but I'm not sure if that is only during the summer or if it is all year, since it gets colder than heck out there at night this time of year. The odfw site says that February is the prime month for bass there so we want to give it a shot. Thanks for any help.

I was there last year with my Dad and a couple buddies in February or early March. We fished the end of the resrvoir where the parking lot and toilets are (south?). Did not catch any Hybrid Stripers but a guy in a pontoon did on a fly. We got back to the restaurant in Christmas Valley where we were staying. The owner of the "resort" told us that we should have fished the opposite end of the reservoir where warm water flows in from a geo thermal vent? that is where the Hybrids hang out in the cooler weather. He said that they actually bite on chicken livers pretty well, fished off the bottom with a drop weight, hook and bait about 2' off the bottom. Fun reservoir, we caught a bunch of planter trout, and caught some decent ones (14") in the Ana River on a rapala. Had to be really stealthy, crawled on my stomach and pitched way up stream to get a bite. Fish there are really cagey. The banks are steep and muddy, pretty treacherous.

I was up there last summer and caught a few, but no real big ones. fish on the west side of the lake and use some sort of stinky meat off the bottom (IE chicken liver). night fishing is best. just get a big fire going and wait. let us know how you do!
