Okay, I have a question that may seem silly. It's been well stated that fish will hug tight to the bank in high flows. That part I know and understand.
My question is, do they also hold tight to the bank when you have a river with moderate to low flows, but poor visibility? ie; NF Lewis.
Agreed. The strength/flow of the current is the most important factor here. They do tend to be in shallows before daybreak. I nearly stepped on one a couple weeks ago. Probably would have if my head lamp didn't spook it first!
They like soft water and often there's soft water by the bank. If it's off color they won't be as light sensitive so they might be in the shallower stuff at you're feet. I've stepped on more than one fish in muddy water.
