bobber beads

Hey ifishers,

Was reading recently about making sure your top bead was big enough that it wouldn't fit through the first eyelet of your rod. I have never done this and haven't had any issues with it. My Fenwick has a huge first eyelet and the bead I would have to use on top of my float is way disproportionate to the top stem of my float (west coast). Does this really matter? It seems like the bead always slides down the line when you reel in anyway. Anybody have any problems with this? Thanks!

If I'm casting long distances, I like to have a big enough bead or small corkie so I can see that the line has been pulled all the way down through the bobber, also, in addition to not going through the tip top eye. That makes casting a nightmare sometimes, when the bead gets caught in the tip top.
