It looks mellow at the current flow. Yesterday I saw a couple guys in a driftboat push off and free drift with a 6 horse all the way down that immediete stretch of water and out of sight. I should have asked if they were taking out at I-5. I am wondering if they were going to motor back up against that current. It looked really possible in that stretch of water, and would save the hassle of running a shuttle. It also looked like you could motor upriver. Anyone do this with a db and a kicker out of Jefferson?
Also,
The river looked like you could sled around on it if you were careful. How would you launch your (bigger/heavier) boats there? It is very shallow a long ways out. Then it looks like it drops way off. Does anybody do this during lower flows?
Thanks a lot for any responses and help about these questions.

If you have a 4x4 you can launch there at jefferson but you have to back out on the ledge far enough to launch done it in 2 wheel drive before, but I-5 is a lot easier to launch then just motor up.

I'll check out I-5. Thanks CH, I do have four wheel, but it doesn't look very fun at Jefferson. What is a good river reading at Jefferson to get out with a jet? Yesterday looked a little low, but probably manageable.
Nice visual aid! My truck doesn't sit that high. The water looks nice on that day. I will make it work somehow. Maybe this could justify a lift on the rig when I get tiresray:. Thanks for the pic, I laughed out loud when I saw it. It helped though.
Call me crazy, but I launched @ Jeff in mid-August. I actually went upstream of the ramp across the rocks and dropped in off the ledge. 4-wheel recommended to just pull back up the ledge. We motored [sport-jet] a couple miles above Thomas Creek. Water was extremely thin, and the return trip the wind had picked up and you couldn't see all the slots. Shut down and floated and actually banged bottom a couple of times. My boat does run in some really thin stuff!!
It is low, and I am not a thrill seeker. I am wondering about taking my db out and down from Jefferson. Would an 8hp have the sack to motor back up? It looks like you could do it, but I don't know. I just would have to take out at I-5 if I couldn't make it.
You can motor around the Jefferson area just don't go down to far ,or you can motor up to the mouth from the ferry. I have done both before in my db with a 6h kicker.
