Hey folks,
Just got back from the Salem Public Library, and saw a flier for "COMMON GROUND III" a pro-MPA documentary and discussion that will be occuring tomorrow night, February 18th. It will run from 5-7:30 at the MICAH building next to the United Methodist church in downtown Salem. A Q&A session will follow. If you're able to go, and are up on the issues of Marine Reserves, it might be a worthwhile thing to check out and be a part of the discussion.
So far the people of Salem have been given only one side of the information. The flier itself said, "Did you know Oregon is the ONLY state on the West Coast without Marine Reserves?" Would you like to do your part?... etc.. etc.
It would be nice to fill the audience with some folks that knew the science, and were able to ask tough intelligent questions of the individuals screening the movie, and perhaps persuade those in the audience with an open mind that this may not be the best way to go... If you're able to make it, it would be well worth it for those inlanders with no direct tie to the ocean except driving down 101 "appreciating the beauty" to hear the opposite side of the coin.
