Default They ain\'t TNUA.........But

Another good day on the river!

I drove up to Longveiw Friday night and hit the Cowlitz at 0-darkthirty for some bait. Well the spermy little critters were very spotty. What a difference a day or two makes.

I happened across a heck of a nice fella who had both gotten lucky, and was very persistant. He had about a 1/3 of a bucket and I offered to buy all of it for $20.00.

He wouldn't accept any money but told me I could have all I wanted and then dumped a pile on top of my 5 lonely fish.

I again tried to pass off the 20 bucks but he would not accept. I asked him if he had any kids and told him it would make me feel good if he would take the money and buy them a gift.

Yes, he had kids. Nope he wouldn't take any money.

I chatted a while and brought up Ifish. He knew all about us here. Been reading posts for years but was not the type to join in. He sure had the spirit of Ifish and would fit in like custom cabnetry.

I made my way back south and found the I5 bridge closed to southbound traffic. I had to shoot over to 205 and then cross killingsworth to Lombard into St. Johns.

My crew was waiting at the ramp and had been since 0600. We'd been playing phone tag all morning and I was taking a hell of a razzing.

My day was not staring out well! Add to all this the fact that I woke up to a sewage spill at 0400 and I was begining to think I should have stayed home all together.

We launched anyway and I told the fellas that the fishing would be great because nothing else was worth a spit today.

We moved around a bunch and were catching and even measuring lots of fish.

Then the boat broke and we got towed in. I met the second saint of the day. An hour later we were back at it upriver of the railroad bridge.

Finally we hit paydirt with a decent 44. Tracy was a happy camper.

We barley finished celebrating and my rod quivered. I put the hook to what felt like a real nice fish.

Steve had never caught a keeper so I handed the pole off to him. You should have seen his eyes. The ole G Loomis was bent nearly in a circle every time the fish made a run.

Steves fish came in just under 49".

I found more joy in his excitement than I could have if I caught ten 60inchers.

I had paid all the morning dues and we were now reaping the benefits.

No it isn't TUNA but it passes the time!

Sounds like quite the adventure, Greg. Glad to hear you are doing well in spite of the little bumps in the road. Hope to see you during the halibut or tuna season. Let's hook up if schedules allow.

Hey Charlie I sent you numorous e-mails and PM's with my phone number. I had hoped to do the Tilly with ya.

Sonny, looking forward to fishing with you again this year. When the time comes I'll let you guys claim seats. I want to bend your ear about your jerky recipe. That was the best I ever ate!
