Default Elk herds around Onion Peak

We have a tag for this area. Basically the boundaries are HWY 101, HWY 26, and HWY 53. An older disabled hunter my dad and I are taking hunting drew this tag and I would love to get him into some elk. Took a trip down two weeks ago and got the key to the Warehouser gate, drove around most of the area and nothing. Then I went back down this past weekend just scouting w/o the hunter and went up soapstone by the NFN hatchery. Jumped 3 crossing the road, but I was hoping to find a herd to get into this weekend. So far things are slow. Just wondering if anyone has been around there lately, and might be able to point us in the right direction. Anything will help, thanks.

Don't have time to tell you about the area at the moment, but shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you. This a cow tag?

If he can walk for a mile or so take him out on Tillamook head. If not my only suggestion is to drive the open roads, doing this will eventually put you into a herd. good luck,
