Default 300 wsm

My wife won a Weatheryby Vanguard 300 WSM at our OHA Banquet last night. Does anyone have any experience / comments / recommendation on shooting this caliber?
I reload so that's a new consideration.

My father-in-law has one and it drifts on him between shots. Then if he were to shoot it the next day, it will return to the same spot as the first shot the day before.

I have a Steyr ProHunter shooting Nosler Accubonds 165gr. using Ramshot Hunter powder working my way up from 60gr. Winchester nickle shells and CCI magnum rifle primers.
So far one shot kills on Antelope, Muledeer and cow Elk.

Great caliber! I've had good luck with Accubonds and Vhit N550 or RL22.

My most accurate gun. I load 168 grain Nosler CT's with MagPro powder and get excellent accuracy with not much jolt. Also load the 150 Ballistic Tips and get nice accuracy. I started using the MagPro, Hunter, and Magnum powders that came out. They measure so much better, cleaner burning and less pressure. More of a ball powder. Great gun. Even shot some 110 plinkers at rats last year a little.

So far I love it. I shot a three point with my T3 this last fall and they shoot fast, flat, and hit waaaaay hard even at distance. Great, great guns. My buck died instantly. They will tear a deer up a bit depending on where you shoot it, but I have elk rifles that double for deer. They can't be too dead on the westside. They have a shorter bolt throw, and are a more effective cartridge based on the shell being shorter and fatter. Go shoot it and you will love it. Put a pad on it, they kick a bit, but if you are only sighting in and hunting with it, your good. Don't skimp on the scope because it will give it a workout!

Had one, used 180 grain Swift A-Frames and IMR4350. Mine was a Browning averaged 3/4" groups light and pointed well. Cartridge is a great choice assuming its matched with a short action. If it is a long action its sort of a waste, but still a very adequate for anything short of something requiring a lanyard
