Right now I have the standard "strip floor" in my drift boat. The floor is pretty worn down, and I don't like how the water pools up where I keep some of my gear. I am looking into building a full width floor for my boat. I want something that is lightweight and non-reflective. What kind of options do I have? Also about what would the aluminum cost to do a 16*54 boat if I were to go that route? And what would be the best coating to put over a diamond plate aluminum floor?
I am not sure on aluminum prices any more but if you go that route get them linex coated they are great they can do lots of colors and the stuff holds up amazing even on aluminum
you can buy black diamond plate, if you line-x it it will ad a bunch of weight, and with line-x if you spill eggs on the floor, its a pain to clean, just diamond plate wipe it up and your done easier maintance. just my:twocents:
Took my drift boat (not a Willie) over to the Willie boat factory in Medford, Oregon, and had them replace the flooring. Was happy with there work and the price was right.. They are also a Ifish sponsor.
Good Times, what did Willie charge? Did you have to tear out the old flooring or was that part of the deal? I have a 16 x 54 Willie with wood floors covered with some type of material and have been givng some thought to going with the diamond plate. Thanks.
Didn't do anything to the boat other than leave it there at the factory. They called me when it was ready. Honestly it looked better than new.. You can call the factory and get an estimate over the phone.
its been around for along time, its powder coated black and holds up good, old guys like it on there trucks easier to maintain than the regular diamond plate. you have to look around to find black.:meme:
Been fishing out of a friends 17 x 60 Willies drifter and it has front/back raised and middle diamond floor. Best ever seen. Only suggestion is have floor to about 3-4" from sides of middle for drainage.
let me know if you need advice or if there is anything I can do to help.
Shawn
