I read the directions a couple of times, so I hope I get this picture-posting thing right the first time. Here are some Alaskan pictures for everyone's enjoyment. We still have a couple months to wait for good fishing up here, so last summer's pictures will have to do for the time being.
The first one is a picture of my boat. I have a 22-foot Hewescraft Sea Runner Hard Top, and 115-hp Yamaha 4-stroke pushes it around. Inside I have a Garmin 238 sounder w/ Bluecharts, an Interphase Sea Scout (forward looking sonar), a Raymarine 45 VHF radio, an Icom MV-1 handheld VHF, and a CD player. Top speed is about 32-33 mph with a normal load of people and gear.
Next is a picture of me with a 58-pound ling cod I caught last August out of Seward, Alaska. Minimum size for a keeper in Alaska is 35 inches. On this day, we caught five ling cod in about 30 minutes. Three of the five were over 50 pounds, and the other two we over 40. The ling cod fishing up here is truly spectacular!
I purchased my boat just prior to my folks visit, but we still went on the charter trip we had already booked earlier in the summer. We had a GREAT time, and caught loads of fish. My brother caught the large halibut on the right; it weighed 115-pounds. The rest of the halibut are in the 20-40 pound range. Along with the ling cod already mentioned, we caught some big yellow-eye rock fish that weighed over 15-pounds as well (not in the photo). This was the single best fishing day we've had since moving up here in 2001.
