I cut timber on some ground down around Lyons years ago. It was owned by Avery timber Co. I heard they open the gates for hunting season, does any one know about it? It looked like good hunting for deer, also saw a few elk. If it is open it would be worth the drive just to see some of the timber.

Use to hunt there too. Sometimes it's open, sometimes not. I belive that you can walk in but no driving. I live in Lyons but the last few years it's been closed durring bow season. Hope that helps. TY

I heard you have to call and check in. I've never known the gates to be open to the public.

OHA worked a deal with Longview Fibre to get the combo to the gate during hunting season. But, what I found out was Weyerhauser has a gate before you get to the Longview gate! So there I sat.
Made some calls and found out Longview has another gate, but you have to go about 20 miles on an overgrown goat trail in 4-Low through Monument Peak country to get there. Thanks but no thanks, won't do that again.

Even the Longview_Fibre gates were locked the entire bow season without the combo locks in place. Too dry AGAIN!
