Copy and paste from a thread several weeks ago....

""""Well guys did some research and found this info at the Oregon state marine boards site;State of Oregon Boating Access
Boating Facility ClosuresSwan Island boat dock temporarily closed for emergency repairs

This is a press release courtesy of Portland Parks & Recreation and reported on KATU.

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) announced today that they will be temporarily closing the boat dock on Swan Island for emergency repairs to the dock sections.

According to Bob Downing, PP&R Central Services Manager, inspections of the dock revealed two broken hinges where the sections of the dock connect. To prevent accidents or injuries to the public, PP&R will be closing the dock until further inspection and repairs can be made.
Consultants will be evaluating the dock next week to determine the extent of repairs needed to the dock sections and to assist PP&R in preparing a repair plan. Staff projects that the dock will be closed until early 2009.

The boat dock at Swan Island is operated on a partnership basis between Portland Parks & Recreation and the Bureau of Environmental Services(BES). PP&R has notified both BES and the Oregon State Marine Board of the closure.

Boaters who are displaced from the Swan Island dock are advised to use the boat docks at nearby Cathedral Park (N Edison Street and Pittsburg Avenue) or at Willamette Park in southwest Portland (SW Macadam Avenue and Nebraska Street).""""

They've had a couple of months to get hinges. One post on another thread shows a sign that says closed due to vandalism, which is it? Acording to a thread on the Salty Dogs Depoe Bay just got new docks, along with a couple other marinas to the South. I guess the people with the $50,000.00+ boats get the docks and us po' folks here in NOPO get the screws?

I love the sugestion to take you drift boat with the six horse kicker to WILLAMETTE PARK and launch? With the solmon seasons coinsiding with the sturgeon fishery, well, the guides and others will have Cathederal Park launch full to the hilt come 6:00am.

Not to mention the mess that is James M. Gleason ramp! How many months has that been!!!
