Cheep ICE
Ive got a ice machine that makes 600lbs in 24 hours and was wondering if some of you guys that lived in the Portland area would be intersted buying some of this ice? The ice maker is going to cost about $500 to start up. I myself wont use $500 of ice this summer or next summer. Im not looking to make a profit on this thing just help pay the start up cost buy selling some of the ice.

Re: Cheep ICE
If I can access it whenever I want, and you live relatively nearby, I am in for $100 bucks for ice for the year.

Re: Cheep ICE
I was thinking about $10 for a 120 to 150 quart cooler and $7 for any thing smaller, like 100 quarts and so on. Smaller coolers like 30 or 40 quarts will do beers and bribery. The half totes will go for about $15. As far as times we would need to work out somthing so that it wasn't a disturbance to my family, but I am most willing to work with it.
I think this would be first come first serve just cuz there is only 600lbs at a time. Most coolers today will keep ice for days even in the summer.
Miss B, find out what you are realling halling and maybe we can figure somthing out.

Re: Cheep ICE
I'd take you up on it every weekend! My shop is right down the road from your place, so anytime on Friday works for me!

Re: Cheep ICE
If Mel would take me tuna fishing, I would fill up a 120 and a 150 qt and take it to Warrenton.

Re: Cheep ICE
How did you get this thing? What kind of ice does it make. Now no comments I am talking about the size. Is your ice maker like one of those hotel ice makers?

Re: Cheep ICE
Give me a call--503-313-3481. I might be interested but I have a few questions I want to make sure on availability (time of day I can pick it up) and location (not really worth going 10 miles out of the way for a few bucks if you include time it will take to get it). I will explain better over the phone but I could be interested. whenever you get a chance give me a call.

Re: Cheep ICE
Reel Creel- I've been paying $30 for a tote (probably about the same as your 600 lbs) of shaved fish ice at the coast and it's been painfull to get (several cases of beer bribes required)at times.
Sure wish you were located in Warrenton instead of Beaverton. Maybe my crew can pick it up on the way down this summer. You get up at 3 am right?

Re: Cheep ICE
It makes cubes and a friend of mine works for a store chain that bagged there own ice. I was talking about how much ice you can use on a tuna trip. He said there just buying there ice now not bagging it. somthing about the help having there hands in the ice. So when one came up in portland, it was come and get it.

Re: Cheep ICE
Argghhh.. cube ice just doesn't work as good for the chill tank or packing down the fish. Doesn't get them chilled and takes up too much space.
Stepping on ice cubes on the deck can get pretty exciting too. Don't ask me how I know this!
Cube ice is better than no ice though! Maybe we can just get a Super Sized ice shaver?

Hey Mel - I'm sure I have a snow-cone maker around somewhere. Wonder what it's capacity is.... Maybe 3 cups and hour? And yer arms get pretty tired, too! But yer welcome to it, my friend
