Default State Records for Saltwater Species?

Hey, I had a thought.

The state keeps big fish records for FRESHWATER species such as Bass, Salmon, Trout etc, but not saltwater species such as Tuna, Halibut, Rock Bass, etc...

Here is the link: Oregons Record Fish

How bout we convince them to start a catagory for Saltwater? I think it would be fun.

Albacore Tuna
Bluefin Tuna
Rock Bass
Halibut
Humbolt Squid
Ling Cod
Striped Marlin
Swordfish

What species am I missing...?

Chumking - would this be a big deal in your opinion? Who at ODFW would be in charge of such things? How would one make a formal request?

Who is going to be the first to flame me for suggesting glorifying the death of a few of the big fish (spawners) out there?

It's kind of scary to think that there are 115 pound redear sunfish swimming around some of these ponds.

Ug, Ug, Ug,
Are you bored or what. Shouldn't you be at the coast with your lovely wife watching your credit card bills rise via your satellite linked laptop while you're stressing poor helpless big brooders on the Wilson  !!
First of all dipstick...just how far out do we allow State records? Is it unlimited miles, and by Port of disembarcation? Or shall we stick to the 3 miles the State of Oregon controls. Now that would open up a can of worms--"I saw you catch that Chinook!! You were out of state waters!!!!!!"
And as for your poorly veiled baiting technique "what other species are there?"...sheesh--there's Quill back's, China's, Blue's, Bocaccio, Greenling--wait a minute
Hope you're having fun--I aim to be directly.
If I were you I'd be setting my sights on "Trophy" Shad right now Ug...sharpen them hooks and oil them reels Baby!! You still got another state record to chase, and then--IT'S ON TO THE WORLD RECORD!!!!!!!!
We are all rooting for you!!!!!!!
Insincerely,
WildHawg, President of the "I Want to Be Like Big Shad Brad" Fan Club

Okay... IGFA keeps records for state freshwater line class records. Thing is, they are ALL VACANT, except (20 lb.) line class for black Crappie, which was taken with a 3 lb. 15 oz. crappie on Apr. 15, 1999. This is worth mentioning only because he's got the sole IGFA honors for this state.

Anyhow, I'm for leaving things as they are with IGFA and the salty world and going for line class World records. That's just my 2 cents.

It would be nice to have some archive of Oregon slams and Grand slams. -D
