For those of you that know me and for those who don't.....Some will agree with my methods and style and some don't but there is one thing that EVERYBODY that knows me will agree on and that is my ability to cook,,yes cook....I have been in the "kitchen" since a child and my mother took great pride in her "old county" (middle eastern cooking) cooking. After co-authoring a cookbook with her before her passing on and re-printing a second edition, I've always wished I could open a resturant to share all my special recipes, especially seafood recipes. Problem.......service businesses are "too much work" and would restrict my ablility to be on the big pond. Well the next best thing has happened to me. 3 of my nieces have bought a small resturant/bar in Portland and I have been able to help them set up a few things. One of those things is having a "CAPT KUJO'S" night on Tuesdays. Starting March 23, 2004 I'll be in the kitchen

I want to invite all you to come down and check it out for dinner. Of course the Feature of this opening Tuesday will be KUJO's own Shrimp and Sausage GUMBO with the main dish being Smoked Oregon Albicore Alfredo Fettucini . Also My home made Ceasar Salad dressing I understand is to die for.

Anyway the place is THE EMPIRE ROOM located at 4260 SE Hawthorne in Portland. Phone number is 503-231-9225. Suggest calling for reservations or e-mail at info@theempireroom.net . I can assure you won't be dissappointed. They have a full BAR as well as BEER and WINE . It's a great little place. PLease come join us on Tuesday

Kim, I hope you cook a little slower than you run your boat! Always interesting to hear about the OTHER things we all do besides fish (what? something in life besides fishing?). .I'd love to talk fish-cooking with you sometime.

A TA meeting is definatly OUT. When I first looked at the place I knew it was too small. I've also been scouting around for a couple of places for the next one.

Congratulations. Sounds good and I look forward to trying it. I travel on business all the time. Mainly to WA and AK, but lots to Chicago, Boston, CA,Miami etc. I almost always go for the seafood. Chicago a couple of weeks ago.... Spanish Tapas bar with Calamari that was so good my eyes were buggin and I couldn't stop smiling. The magic of perfectly cooked seafood is one of life's great treats, especially when you catch it and cook it.

I can attest to Kujo's Kookin'. Just wait until you have one of his crab and cream cheese omlettes... Let the drooling begin.
Just like Kujo, I was raised in the kitchen by my Father who was a chef (among other things). I have a true appreciation for good food.
So, long story-short....If this place has food half as good as Kujo's, I'm there. And I'll take the girly friend along too.

KJ - I noticed on the web page that there's a "special menu" on Tues. Does that mean that the regular menu items are not available? Or is that just a special that's added for Tues night?
