Hunting Podcasts "Bow Cast" & MP3's in General
The Fox Pro product is probably the first
mp3 player some of us have owned. I have been learning about podcasts on iTunes the last 4 months. I believe it's about 30 times more complicated than playing a CD or any type of tape player.
I could also claim a CD is to road hunting as mp3's are to hike in to a wilderness hunting. That would be rude so I won't do that. What I want to do is wake up ifisher users to the massive free hunting and fishing content in podcasts.
Bowcast is one of my recent favorites. Its a weekly show on archery hunting. Tom Greshams firearm shows can be down loaded too. Some of the podcasts have sponcers others are real casual like one I learned about that discussed bird hunting.
Better yet. A podcast savy ifisher could take a stab at making a hunting podcast production. I bet there's a PETA podcast out there for contrast.
As more ifish users become donators to ifish an ifish sponcored podcast could kick in. Or maybe not. Just me speculating here. Mp3 players make podcasts more portable I've learned. Most Internet connected computors will play a podcast. A couple years ago an mp3 player was combined with a cell phone. My thought was "what's the point?". I had the same words come to mind when I saw a full page ad about Star Wars in 1977.
I seem to keep relearning the same things. In this case it is that portable is mighty grand. But enough about me and podcasts. What do you think about "me and podcasts"? (please don't answer that ... it was a joke.)
Answer this please. Do you have any hunting podcasts you recall hearing? Is there anything interesting about hunting that you'd possibly download? Are you hoping you Fox Pro has 20 GB of memory? & last of all did you see that full page Star Wars ad and think "What a ruckus for a movie"?

PS. I tried to do a search on podcast and bowcast but my device wouldn't slow the search function to kick in.

Re: Hunting Podcasts "Bow Cast" & MP3's in General
I got into podcast a year ago and I was really into it. I would get all the sports shows that I missed while at work. I would listen to the podcast at night when I would surf the internet. I never new there was some hunting one's I will have to look into them. An maybe get the podcast bug again.
I have sort of slipped away from podcast. I felt the biggest thing agianst them was having to load and erase the new and old podcsat on my ipod. It ended up being too time consuming, that is why i would just listen to them on itunes while I was online.
Now I'm no expert, so maybe I was and am doing somthing wrong.
But for the most part I like podcast's and will look into some hunting one's.

I used to download Lance Fisher's fishing (and some hunting) podcast off of the 1080 "the fan" website. He used to be on Sat. mornings from 5-7a.m. Anybody know whatever happened to that show? Is it on another station? Lance was pretty opinionated but also entertaining IMO.

In some of his last shows he has left guiding and is working for the family construction biz. Twin girls will do that to ya. Hope he is doing good.

I can't think of any radio station that might have the nerve to run a talk show about archery hunting. Have you tried to get picked up anywhere?
Here is a hard question for you. Since you are in the Hunting Pod cast biz... would you name a few good hunting pod casts? I could have PMed you on this question but really.... You have a good show so what else is out there?

Steven, Im not aware of one.
Bowcast is all about educating guys, and being the leader of archery podcasts, and now its upcoming on the 78th episode.
Bowcast is growing strong, built on the foundation of being the innovators.

Re: Hunting Podcasts "Bow Cast" & MP3's in General
Here are a few I've sampled. Hunt Cast has just over 70 pod casts. Meanwhile The Predator Hunting Pod Cast has two old ones from 2006.
Outdoors Magazine Radio has a start in pod casting. A Michigan based show.
Outdoors with Dan Small has over 140 pod casts with 50 minutes per show. Fish and hunting in Wisconsin. One show is on the Wolves being delisted there.
A Eastman's Hunting has just 5 video casts all less than 15 minutes. All of these plus Bow Cast are free to down load. Maybe the majority of hunters don't find hunting talk shows of much use. For me it's great to see a few serious efforts for a variety of audiences.
A lot of room for other pod cast shows on hunting.

Re: Hunting Podcasts "Bow Cast" & MP3's in General
The American Outdoorsman Radio has a differentspin for a hunting show. Available shows on iTUnes and has a lot of guests including a regular.... Uncle Ted the Rock & Roll Hunter.
I've determined that the Pod Cast is still concidered geek territory by a lot of people. Eventually I believe the pod cast will be a lot easier to access and use.

Re: Hunting Podcasts "Bow Cast" & MP3's in General
Bow Cast is awesome. Both Anthony and Aneal take a professional approach while keeping things fun. The show is never dry and they seem to always find great guests. I have listened to almost every episode I'm sure.
Hunt Cast is my second favorite. Joe Duckworth is a radio show host by trade. He does a morning show for a real job. His show is put together, and he has some great guests as well.
Ive been listening to the Up North Journal a little lately. Mike Adams and his son Mike Jr do a good job and are entertaining but the content can get boring at times as the can talk for quite a while about their boring day of ice fishing or what have you.
Tom Rosenthal's Orvis Flyfishing podcast is very well done but is a little hit and miss. Some are short, some not, some videos. Great content always.
Finding good podcasts is hard. Some only put out a few and quit. Some only last a few minutes. I'm on the road alot and really enjoy them.
I have been working on some content and will be recording some shows soon as well. I bought all the equipment to record at a professional level and we'll see how it goes. There's no money to be made in the world of outdoors podcasting. If some advertising comes in, maybe some free products and stuff. It costs a little money to get going and I don't expect to see a return. Look for my show in my sig line to actually come to fruit this spring.
