Good deals on low cost Kokanee Rods (Updated!)
There are some pretty good deals to be found on Kokanee rods right now. Fisherman's Marine has the Daiwa Spinmatic rod (model SM-X 702 ULFB) (2-6 lb line weight) marked down from $34.99 to $23.99. This is a clearance sale on last year's model. I don't know what the difference is on the newer model.
Another very similar rod, the Okuma Celilo Kokanee Pro (CE-C-702L) (2-8 lb line weight) is on sale for a few days for $26.99 at FishUSA (Google it).
Both of the above rods are 7' long, 2-piece rods. The Daiwa is slightly more limber since it is rated for 2-6 lb line vs the 2-8 lb rating of the Okuma. These are great kokanee downrigger trolling rods. They load up and form a nice arc along their entire length when downrigging.
FishUSA also has the Okuma Magda Pro MA 15 DX linecounter reels for $39.95. That reel makes a perfect kokanee combo for either of the above rods. I have ordered several rods and reels from FishUSA and they have excellent service. A few more Google searches and I found another on-line site that had this reel for $33.99.

The one that I bought today was at the Oregon City Fisherman's Marine. If they sell out on that rod, the Okuma rod is amost identical.

Re: Good deals on low cost Kokanee Rods
I have one of each of those rods and I think they are both great. Personally I prefer the Daiwa for downrigger fishing as I feel that it's a little more limber, but I like the Okuma for flatlining a big troll gear like cowbells. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Also I got that Okuma rod paired with that magda pro and it's a pretty nice little reel. And for the money, you definitely can't go wrong!

Re: Good deals on low cost Kokanee Rods
I went by the Oregon City Fishermans to pick up a Daiwa today.....there were only a few left for the 23.99....the rest of them were labeled 34.95. Is this the difference in last years model VS this years????....anyway, thanks for the heads up....I love this rod on the downriggers.

February 17 Update: I am on FishUSA's mailing list, and received a note today that their Okuma Celilo Kokanee Pro CE-C-702 (7' rod) is on sale until February 23rd for only $22.05. Hard to beat that price on a good kokanee rod!
