Default VHF and GMDSS reading

Recently I have read a lot of posts for questions regarding the correct entry/exit criteria for Depoe Bay. I thought I would share one valuable resource that I have in my fishing library. This is not an endorsement of the book or author (like I could anyway)but I found it to be a valuable resource and information. Actually, I have read it numerous times and for any "Salty Dogs" out there novice or captain will find the book well written and easy to understand. Most it not all of us have not had any formal training in radio communications or the right protocol in using VHF. This book will help you through any questions you might have. It has some extremely valuable information and foresight into GPS, DGPS, WAAS,GMDSS, DSC and MMSI. Confused, well it will help you to know what all these abbreviations mean and how they effect you and your offshore communications.
The name of the book "A Boaters Guide to VHF and GMDSS", by Sue Fletcher. It really will educate and help my fellow "Salty Dogs".

Jsut in case some "Salty Dogs" passed this page up. It really is a good resource and book to have. Don't miss out on buying this book. And again, I am not endorsing it, I just believe it could help you understand and fine tune your VHF protocol.
