Default Lowrance settings for Sturgeon?

I have a lowrance 337 that I have been using but have a extremely difficult time marking sturgeon. I have been playing around and around with the settings but I just think I do not know what I am doing. I here of people being able to mark the fish pretty well but I just cannot get the settings right. If someone has some advice as to what I need to do that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

I have the 332c. First of all make sure your transducer is level. I had problems because I leveled it to the ground and not the way it sat in the water.
Second. zoom in on the bottom. Turn sensitivity up so to where you can read it without to much noise(clutter). Turn surface clarity off. Turn noise rejection off.
My biggest problem was my transducer. My boat is rear heavy because of my kicker. You can level it off with the scum line on the side.

Good luck. I know how you feel. I was very frustrated because you are fishing blind.

Pretty much what the admeral said. Set sensitivity at 90% or higher and zoom on the bottom. Great suggestion to use the scum line to level the transducer.

Also understand that many people mark a lot of things that they think are fish, but aren't. The Lowrance seminar at the Sportsman's Show is time well spent, pencil that in on your schedule for next year.

You will rarely get a picture perfect "arch" like you see on the simulators in the stores. Learning what a fish looks like can take a bit of time. Anchoring over a hole full of sturgeon on a hot bite when you are fishing straight under the boat will do a lot to increase your confidence.

regards,
AW

There are alot of settings that come in to play with your machine. If you have any specific questions, pm me and I can give you all of the settings that I have set up. You can also go to Lowrance.com for software upgrades, I have had to do the uploads twice in the last four years or so.

As AW stated, your sensitivity has to be set at least at 90%, I run mine at about 98%, noise reduction off, Surface clarity Medium, Ping speed is fast (I believe), Chart speed is also fast (I believe)

Hope this helps, let me know if I can help further. Took me a lot of time and a Lowrance seminar to get it to show what I wanted it to show, hang in there and you'll get it. If you keep track of what you change, and it goes bad, just reset the factory settings. You can reinput the settings that you did like.

Fish appear as arches only when the boat is moving over the fish. The best arches appear when fish pass through the center of the cone. Other flotsam, suspended chunks of weeds will appear as arches also, that's why a color finder is so much better. With a little practice you'll be able to tell the difference between plant matter and fish because of the difference in color/density.

This is from Youngs Guide Service in The Dalles.
The first photo is of a 10ft sturgeon and the second is her on the fishfinder.
