Re: Elk rescue
That's pretty cool. I can't believe she jumped back in the hole after they got her out the first time.

Re: Elk rescue
nope, send that video to PETA. Ethical hunters are the most humane and responsible stewards of wildlife you will find. Hat's off to them for the hard work.

Re: Elk rescue
I wonder how they found the elk, probably accidentally spooked the herd and this one fell in, otherwise it would not have lasted long in that water. But it was good that they got her out.

Re: Elk rescue
It amazes me to watch clips like that. Its almost like the animals start to understand that the people are there to help them in situations like that. Watching the guy pull the rope off her neck and just laying there. Definately a cool clip.

Re: Elk rescue
I whole heartedly agree that hunter image in this climate is very important.
Hate to be the Debbie Downer (sorry for using your name Debbie) here but,
As a member of The Coalition Against Coalitions, I commend those people for trying to "the right thing". Thanks for that Walt Disney!
At least there is a chance (beit a slim chance at this point) of her continued survival.
However, from a strictly biological point of view... considering a few factors like, the time of year, geographical location (sage country), total time (?) the elk was in the hole with cold water and no food, and the added stress of the "rescue", I would quickly conclude this elk died shortly after this.
Perhaps, the only truely ethical thing to do would be to eat the poor thing.
Now bash away, bash away, bash away all......

What's interesting is the wide variety of perspectives and conclusions people have after watching the video. Me ....... I'm in the crowd.
