last summer at shasta, a friend and i got this catfish. about 5 lbs. what is it?

we caught 5 or 6 channel cats 10-14", but they did not look the same as the big one

Channel cats can come in a variety of shades and colors. As the others noted, the tail is a giveaway. Nice fish.

my uncle thought it was a mud cat at first.
