Default 175SJ and trimtabs?

I have been researching trimtabs for my 18' Alumaweld 175 SJ.

I've found 3 kinds: the ones that adjust automatically, the kind where you attach 2; one to each side of the jet and the one by Place that is designed to attach directly to the jet.

Trim tabs should allow planing at slower speed thereby getting better fuel consumption and better travel and control in rough water.

Has anyone installed trim tabs to their 175SJ?

If so, what kind and how do they work??

Thanks

We had Bennett trim tabs on our old glass boat and they were a big improvement with fuel and handling. However, I doubt they would be a good idea on a sled and certainly not worth the expense.

We had some trouble with our 20' Intruder/sportjet and told the guys at Three Rivers Marine. They made a slight adjustment in the stern bottom strip and with the ride plate. We now have a great handling boat in rough salt water conditions.

I have Bennett trim tabs on my inboard jet. They do help the ride quite a bit in the rougher water, and I recommend them to force the bow down into the waves just the right amount and to level the ride with an uneven load of passengers. For my boat, they are definitely worth the expense. The ride is okay without using the trim tabs and great using them.

I saw an article once about self adjusting trim tabs on a Jet boat. Backing was a problem since they swung downward when in reverse. It would be nice to get a better hole shot, and a quicker plane.
