First Trip To Timothy Lake
I made some reservation at Oakfork in early June for my maiden trip to Timothy. Any of you guys head there that time of year? I would think think the ifishing should be fairly decent?

Re: First Trip To Timothy Lake
timothy is good all year...I myself like to troll around the shoreline and do pretty well..There is some pretty good bank fishing too with some really good spots to the east that you have to hike too..Its worth the hike there is some places on the eastern shore that have big dropoffs with rocks= big brookies...I have done pretty well over there and the cove were the oak fork comes in......

Re: First Trip To Timothy Lake
yes the N.E side is great but hard to get to on foot but doable..The oak grove arm were it enters is killer....It enters on the east and spits out down there in the S.W...Some people like the western area but I myself tend to stay away from that section...I have not done the kokanee thing there but I hear that can be really good if you can find them...

If you like crawdads, then this is the place as well.

Re: First Trip To Timothy Lake
Make sure to take some warm clothing with you as the temp can change pretty fast that time of year.

Re: First Trip To Timothy Lake
I second the Oak Grove Fork arm, either from bank or boat fish are always found there. I have also had success on the shallow flats just to the right of Dinger Creek (per map provided in other reply). Pull black or brown wooly buggers or crawdad imitating flies. If banking it, the usual powerbait or worm combo will work just fine. Spend the money and bring crawdad traps, very plentiful and good eating. As for Kokes, I have caught some, they are there in a good amount, but very very small. Have fun! Plenty of 18"+ fish in there.

Ya I have always heard that catfood is a pretty quick and easy bait.

Re: First Trip To Timothy Lake
Crawdads will eat anything thats a bit stinky. Hotdogs, bacon, catfood, dogfood, spam, canned tuna, shad, and of course any fresh fish carks.
Are all the camp sites totaly booked already for Timothy? or can I just head up there and camp?

Re: First Trip To Timothy Lake
If you want to reserve a campsite at Timothy, here is the link.
http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mthood/recre...ds/index.shtml
The earliest you can reserve a site is 6 months before the date you wish. Competition is keen so hit the reservation site as early as you can on the day 6 months before you want to be there. There are also a few campsites that can't be reserved but I'm not sure I would make the trip up there figuring on getting one of them. Another option if Timothy sites are all booked is to go over to Clackamas Lake. There seems to always be sites open there and it is only about 3 miles from Timothy.
