Went predator hunting-got dog bit!
Darn dog nipped me right in the thigh!
Of coarse it was the home owners dog at the gate I parked at while accessing timberlands. I was starting to think I was going to have to shoot the varmit! Dang thing was 50-60 pounds, I just thought he was bluffing me until he grabbed me in the upper thigh, now that got my attention. AR was on the handle bars of the aluminum horse. House owner finally called off the two dogs, never asked it I was alright or nothing. Needless to say, the AR was on my shoulder and a round in the tube when I came back from my day afield. Luckily the dogs were tied up. Didn't break the skin, so I guess no harm, no foul!
Only had one dog talk to me from very far away, no deer or elk.

Re: Went predator hunting-got dog bit!
It would have been a dead dog if it were me. I have learned through the years not to trust any of them, and if they get in my comfort zone, and let alone nip at me, they are laying in the dirt lead heavy............... Should have had leashes or kept in there owners yards.

Yeah, but then I might have had to shoot the landowner! I was trying not to esculate the situation, but if that nipper came at me again, well I have my limits. Just too big of dog to mess around with.
It's kind of weird, I don't even have a bruise, but I can still feel it in my thigh.

No, you handled it right. Shoot, the day we start whacking the LO's dogs might just be the day permission gets revoked. And what is a mild case of rabbies compared or tettinous compared to a place to hunt!

Yeah, but there has not been any coyote blood on those pants in a long time.

Stop at Bi-Mart and pick up a 70gram Saber pepper spray for $9.99. Give Fido a squirt in the kisser and he'll leave you alone. And if he doesn't then you can let him succumb to high-speed lead poisoning.

Re: Went predator hunting-got dog bit!
Rank
Fido was probably just trying to protect some of it's offspring out in younder woods
If a dog is going to bite someone it would be me, I draw dog bites like fresh meat draws Yellow Jackets.
Even if you pepper sprayed fido it could have cost the closure of hunting privilages for all. May be he was just seeing if you were worth eating

Re: Went predator hunting-got dog bit!
Probably too Rank to eat! I don't think this landowner has much say on the access part, private timberland road.
