Default Humminbird 3000 DeepWater FF Opinions?

Looking for a reasonably priced FF for Deep Water, does anybody have experience good or bad with either the Humminbird 2000/3000 Deep Water Fish Finder?

If you are looking for a "for real" deepwater fishfinder the cheapest units are the SITEX-KODEN CVS-841 commercial unit, JRC JFV-700 or Furuno FCV-292. They have 1kw of RMS power. Most of the sport units that claim to have 1kw of power are actually 1kw of peak to peak power. Plus you will have to have a through hull transducer. Not cheap.

The sport units that are boosted to a supposed 1kw level of power usually do not have the sophisticated electronic circuitry to process that amount of power. It is like adding a DVD drive to a 300MHZ computer. It may fit but probably wouldn't work too well.

I agree with the above post. The real units are not hummingbirds. They have names such as Furuno , Sitex, Raymarine. Do not get me wrong I love hummingbirds especially when they hover in the yard.Mark
