Cool Mount. Looks like a real stop action pose.

Is there a complex story to it or a simple "Looked to the left and saw the cat... boom!"

We where driving early morning from Clarkston, Washington heading to Missoulia, Montana to do some geocaching when I saw "something" crouch down alongside the highway in some weeds and grass next to the highway.

I turned around and went back. I put one some leather gloves before getting out as I had thought it might just be an abandoned house cat kitten. It stayed laid down in the cover so I just reached down and grabbed a hand full of "cat".

Was I ever surprised with what I brought up. Teeth and claws every where. I took it back to the pickup, stuffed it headfirst into the sleeve of a heavy shirt until it's head poked out then I tighten the sleeve enough so it would not get out. IF I can find more photos ( No digital camera at that time) I will post more showing the Teeth and Claws this little one had.

We took several photos, some video and then took it across the road onto and old landing where I took it out and placed it into some more cover and left it there.

Yes, I will hunt cats but I could not leave this kitten to become road kill.

I have done the same for other critters as well.

That is a nice mount, I love cougar mounts.

Logscaler, welcome aboard........no explanation needed. We are hunters not cold blooded killers. I let a little bitty coyote pup walk once while pheasant hunting. I got a kick out of how he thought he was hiding from me. Finding that cougar kitten is a once in a lifetime experience.

Logscaler,

Good story... thanks for sharing. Quite an amazing find and that good samaritan act will give you lots of good karma in the future.

Oncorhynchus, I showed your photo to my wife.

She took one look and said "NO", too scary looking.

Wanna photo shop it and put a smile on it?

Chuck in Madras, Still Life Taxidermy I think is the name of his shop...he does awesome work!!

Got her during elk season in Mt Emily, lots of fresh snow that year, got of glimpse of her out of the corner of my eye, watched her for several minutes as she was burying an elk carcass while munching on the leg!!! No more!!!

Yeah, my wife had the same idea but thats how I remember her, was still alive when we found her, poked with a big branch and that was the look I got with the worst sound I've ever heard....still a little creepy each time I return to that mountain. She got one more hole in her from point blank!!!
