Capt. Rich,
I think if Terrafin added that area - that would be fantastic!. They just recently added "Pt. Arena to Punta Gorda" which includes Shelter Cove area along the NoCal coastline. We have found Terrafin very useful for salmon as well. I will email my two cent's worth to him. Thanks for sharing that info. Bob

How does one ask them for an enhanced region off the Columbia River?

I second the question about the area offshore of the Columbia River. Seems like the shots I saw ended south of there?

I have used Terrafin for 2 years, very happy with the product.
It is kind of a pain cause it splits up Northern
Oregon and Southern Washington.
Oh well, I'll live.

Default Comments for TERRAFIN

Jeff Gammon, the owner of TERRAFIN, wrote me and asked if people would appreciate having an extra SST map of the region between Depoe Bay/Newport and Coos Bay/Charleston and call it Heceta Banks. He is looking at trying to make the SST maps more user friendly and show areas that make sense for the tunaholics.

Also TERRAFIN is also very useful for salmon. When we get the summer upwelling, the edges of the coastal upwelling can often be the most productive salmon fishing areas. Like when the salmon will be at the Rockpile or Heceta Banks.

If you have any ideas on what areas make sense for the Salty Dog Tunaholics Anonyomous group, you can email him at: sstviewhelp@terrafin.com.

I shot off an email to them asking them about the CR area - Let's see what I get back

Dean,

There is no problem with coverage off the Columbia, it's just that it splits North of the Astoria Canyon and than it's the Southern Washington picture.

If they are interested in creating area of interest plots, offshore Newport and the CR would be obvious choices. It would be nice to have a concentrated view of local navigable areas in one shot. I might fork up the subscription fee if they did that.

Thanks Tom - I do have a subscription. I was looking for something much more localized. I used them offshore in Savannah - they had a much more localized view (look at the Enhanced Regions - Savannah, GA). I was thinking if we could convince them to have an enhanced view of 124.40 X 46.10 would be great.
