Question Diamond Lake in July

Ok, just made reservations for 4th of July weekend to camp and fish at Diamond. It will be our first time there. God, I hope the fishing is good. So, I know a lot of you fish this lake alot. Any ideas would be great. Like I said, I am a Diamond virgin.

If you are going to the sportsman show in Portland, stop at their booth. The lodge guy is there and will fill you in on where and what to fish with. Suggest power bait at south end where can find openings in the weeds...there is a launch at that end as well as by the lodge at north end. Fish needlefish on the troll..they sell the right colors at the lodge. Troll the west side south of outlet or along north bank cabins and beyond...consider downriggers in the middle with needle fish or spiner and worms. Bring your bug netting as there will be a lot of them, but not biters. Just thick! That's why the fish are so large....and grow so fast. Again, best advice is to confirm the booth is at sportsman show by calling lake ontheir toll free line and talk to the experts. I will be fishing in may and then early June...feel free to PM me with your questions. Good luck!

I went around last july. didn't catch much, about 4 per person. each one was about 15 or 16 inches so it was worth it. used worm if i remember right.

good luck.... dan
