Sorry, didn't make it out today to see. Saw 1 boat out by the green buoy by the CG station yesterday. Bay is really muddy right now. I will post if I hear anything.

There was a good body of fish in the Yaquina on Saturday. They were concentrated from South Beach Marina entrance up past the OSU Wecoma docks on the South side of the channel. Not sure if they hang around all through the tide due to lots of fresh water. Should have the results of another survey on Wednesday. Keep after 'em!

RR, There are a good # of herring ing the bay. I talked to an ODFW guy who went out sampling last night and said there were good #s throughout the Bay. I have a sick wife and kid at home today or I would be out too. I drove over the bridge and there were about 6-8 boats fishing for them by the cement ship and gas tank. It is supposed to rain a bit tomorrow but clear up for the weekend.

Can a person jig for them off the docks, or is it strictly a boat thing? I crab off the dock next to the USCG station there quite a bit and see boats @ the green can a lot.

Yes you can jig off the docks. Location is highly variable, however. Right now most of the bank effort is off the old concrete ship at the ship terminal. Lots of boats working that area as well.

We went down and ran around the bay and there are not many there. I saw about a dozen boats jigging and not one caught.
It may have got better closer to high water.....but I will wait a little longer.

We did good on surf perch the last 2 days.

Went out around 2:30 Sun. missed the change. Tried over by the CG with no luck. Went over to the gas tank and the turn around and found some on the current line. Not as good as I had hoped. Lots of boats out, but good to get out on the water.

There are some perch around Sawyers,( my son was there last week)

These were north of Newport , just south of Moolock Crk ( which is North of the lighthouse). We caught these pink tails on sand shrimp.

Every year there are a few Striped bass caught in the surf here, and it is a crap shoot, but couple years ago I caught one. Perch are a by-product.

We went out for a family day on Sunday and crabbed for a while. We saw a lot of boats jigging around the terminal builings with a few herring being picked up. It did not look really hot by any means. Crabbing was poor at best.

A batch of the herring that were in the bay spawned probably Monday night. It wasn't a heavy spawn but was seen from just above Sawyer's down to around Coquille Point. Those fish will quickly leave the bay but there are still some greener fish around and there will probably be another shot coming in.
