Trout fishing in the winter

So what are some good stratagies for fishing oregon coastal lakes for cut throat and rainbows? I took my girlfriends son out for about an hour before work today and a couple of hours last week. No bites...The lake we went to today I know has a healthy population of native cut throat. Tried bobber and worm with some pautzke eggs and also plunking the bottom with same set-up. I have caught quite a few fish in that spot in the summer time. Do they go some where else in the winter?
