Default Pilar.. hook size for tc100 clones

What hook size were you planning on running with tc100 clones? I was looking at maybe a 5/0 or 6/0 rather than a 9/0. What do you think? Have you found any barbless doubles that size?

Thanks

I use the same hooks that I use on the 200's. Didn't seem to have an adverse effect. The 100's out fished the 200's for me last year...about 1.5 to 1. Color and position to the boat wasn't correlated. They do like those little ones

Yes they do like them little ones. For rod and reel,I use 60 pound leaders and just use 7/0 salmon trolling hooks. I don't trust these for hand lines, so if you want to run em for that I would reccomend using the big doubles. You will want the extra weight and drag to straighten out the 200 pound leader.

Fishwhenican, I use the #22 SS doubles on everything except cedar plugs.

A strong single point hook or two would work also.

I just ordered a bunch of TC100's based upon this thread - I usually run 200's. I know, I'm sick....

Thanks for the input folks. I think I am going to try some smaller hooks with the tc100s, I also got a spool of 80lb and am going to use that on the rods with both the tc100s and with the tc200s. I think a little smaller hook will go better with some of the hootchie/egg sinker rigs I'll be making up as well.

There's a lure at Sportsmans warehouse called a Squid Stinger. It looks like a little TUNA! clone with a spinner blade and a treble on it. It was pretty cheap and I converted it into a mini jig rig. Cut the spinner crap off and thread the squid and metal head on a leader with an SS TUNA! double.

It's about 1/2 as big as a TCF100 and should work. Early in the season last year the fish showed a strong preference for anything small and green. The hootchie rigs produced and these smaller clones should too.

I think it is about 8/0 or 9/0. It does not specify the size on the box of 100. Just says Mustad #22. They have two points about 45 degrees apart and no barbs.

Bob, look at this (Mustad) page; also, hit the 'back' arrow to see the previous page:

http://www.mustad.no/northamerica/fu...ltwater_34.htm

I use the 6/0 & 7/0 on TC100's. The 6/0's are also perfect for replacing the treble hooks on small Megabait (& Pt Wilson Dart & similar) iron jigs.
