Re: Clams saturday
Jeremy,
Uh, I might be going out on a limb here, but......
You might want to pick your battles.
Meaning, road conditions, landslides (the coast is so famous for), but also large woody debis rolling up on to shore and heavy ponding surf.
Then again...
Great beach combing when it's stormy.
Just be careful whatever you decide to do.
You probably won't find me down there this wknd.

I can't help you with a report but I'd be interested to hear how you do if you go. Thx.

Re: Clams saturday
No report, but I fried up some razors for dinner last night that I dug a month ago. They were fantastic!!
I also had Chinook on the BBQ. Quite the feast.
I am a salery guy, so we are kinda broke at the end of the month and have to dig in the freezer for things to eat. Rough times, I'll tell ya!
Peace, Tom

Re: Clams saturday
Razor digging is tough when the surf is up, which I would suspect is the case with the storm we are having at the coast.
All that surf pounding the beach keeps the clams from showing usually.

Re: Clams saturday
I use a small electric deep fat frier. Dip clams in flour, then egg wash, then seasoned bread crums. Fry'm at 375-400 deg. for 45-60 seconds. Put on paper towels to cool, then enjoy.
I also bought some "fast food style" french frys. Fried'm up too. Great table fare.
Peace, Tom
(ps) my wife will not let me use the frier in the house. Something about the lingering after effects.

Re: Clams saturday
Went out on saturday and managed not to get rained on at all, went through one heck of a hail storm on the way there that i thought was gonna crack my window but it survived, the clamming pretty much sucked, the surf dropped from around 22 feet down to 9 feet for the day but the .38 tide didnt really ever show up and the water was pretty high, better luck next time
