Default interstate unit youth hunt question

Are they going to do away with the youth deer hunt in the interstate unit? anybody heard this? just curious. any here ever had the kid draw it with 0 preference points?

are you asking about 675T? it is listed in the synopsis

Yes the youth hunt, ya i know they have it this year but i heard that they may do away with it eventually and make it a draw hunt for anyone.

They're turning it into a 100 series hunt, still with the "one deer" bag, I believe. Starts in 2010. Look under the hunt description for it on page 60.

there switching the hunt to a 100 series in 2010. It will still be a youth hunt though

says in 2010 this hunt will be changed to a 100 series hunt. preference points points accrued will remain 600 series preference points. hunters need to consider the preference point implications when applying for this hunt.


What does all that mean? that if you applied before and did'nt draw and have lets say 2 preference points they wont go towards that hunt when it switches to a 100 series hunt?

Preference points are applied towards a particular hunt series eg. 100 = Buck Deer, 200 = Elk etc. They do not "follow" a specific hunt within each respective series. 600's will always remain 600's regardless of how they move the hunts around.
