Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
Anyone ever try this? Been trying to figure out a way to take one vehicle and all my kids fishing and camping...So we were at the RV show and I saw one of those "ToyHaulers" light goes on and I'm thinking about building a removable tounge for the boat trailer, build a sturdy front wheel assembly that would pin on in place of the hitch and an electric winch to pull the boat into the trailer. Get to the fishing place pull the boat out, park the trailer put the tounge back on the trailer & go fishing...
Is this crazy talk?
Thanks,

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
Cool idea. Maybe instead of a removable tongue, hinge it. There is usually enough room in those toy haulers where you could just tilt it up and lock it in place. Electic winch (or hand crank) the front then use tie downs in the rear. Good to go.

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
Keep us posted...I had this thought recently too...going to upgrade my bumper pull to Toy Hauler this spring I think.
Is your truck a 5th or a bumper pull? If it is a bumper pull there is an outfit in Wa that makes a boat hauler that goes over your cab/Bed and pull the boat up over the hood of the truck. My URL isn't working, but I have the outfits flyer at home... was www.boatcarrier.com

Not a bad idea
How much room (length) do you have in the back of a "Toy Hauler"? Is there enough for a 16' boat?
Keep us informed...

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
The one I looked at was a 28 footer and it had easily 14 foot of open area and in the middle, where the bow is smaller anyway, there's probably a good 18 feet. With the bedroom door open you probably wouldn't even need to modify the trailer. My plan was to get as small a hauler that my boat, with modified trailer, would fit into...

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
Eagle racing builds trailers for jet boats that fit inside Toy Haulers. Here is a link to thier site so you can check out those trailers. I bet you could build one for the Drifter. http://www.eagleracing.ca/RModels/cusp.9.jp
You can pull a drift boat witha quad if you have to. Ive done it before. Road was too nasty for the truck. I bet you can stuff a quad and a drift boat in one of those trailers.

Funny you should mention building one, I was lingering on those thoughts myself. Although It had occured to start with a haulmark or something as a base, then add windows & only the stuff that my family would use. No fuffy stuff, we're used to tents and don't need the house to go with us, after all that's why we go "camping"...

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
I know they have toy haulers set up to haul pwc. I was at Prineville Reservoir about 5 yrs ago when a guy pulled up and backed his toy hauler (Weekend Warrior actually) and unloaded 5 personal watercraft. He made specially designed slides with bunkmates (plastic things on the bunks. I think that they are UHMW) 5 watercraft at an average weight of 350 pounds is 1750 pounds  ! (That is an estimate mine is 500 pounds fully wet. The new fourstrokes are near 700 pounds)
A driftboat setup would be easy. If you have any fabrication skills, make it work. Otherwise, you'll pay a pretty penny to have it fabbed.

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
I bought an 12ft inflatable instead. That way I can still haul my two 4-wheelers and have a boat in case I camp by a lake. My electric motor pushes it like a dream.
Think about it. You will likely have less $$$ in that setup than you will in making all the conversions for a DB, and can still haul your toys.

Re: Drift boat in a Toy Hauler?
My drift boat is my only toy...is there really a need for another toy? I used to have a fourwheeler, but the kids and wife were the only ones that ever got to ride it, and I only got to work on it. Got tired of that program so when we needed money it was an easy decision. Now I have a drift boat and If I ever figure out how to use it I'll be a complete man...
