Default Newport crabbing report

Just got home from the coast thought I would give crabbing report. On last Thursday we went to Waldport and started early but the crabbing was really BAD! :depressed: Talked to a guy that I have always run into and he said that it has been bad for a few weeks now. The next day (Friday) we got up to a down pour and since the crabbing was so bad before decided to flick it in that day. :depressed: Went down to the rocks and did a little fishing caught several Perch but nothing else. Didn’t try that hard for anything else. I used the rest of the day doing all the things that the wife always bugs me to do. Glad I got that out of the way. At about 3:30 I drove down to the south beach docks and talked to a guy that was just coming in and he said that they had all caught limits. I was bummed that I stayed in. the next day (Saturday) I was out there early. The crabbing in Newport was good. It wasn’t smoking but I think we got 25 in about 3 hours. We did the best on chicken. Had a bunch of bass filets and they didn’t want to have anything to do with it. O ya I forgot to mention IT WAS COLD! Ice pellets. I couldn’t go to the TA meeting Because I attended my grandpas memorial. But It fun was seeing all the Ifishers. I saw several stop by and look at the Black Rocket that was parked in the parking lot. Hope you guys had fun. All and all I would say that it is, or was worth the trip. After all this rain who knows.

Default Re: Newport crabbing report

Just what I wanted to hear. There was a conflicting report on here last week that indicated low slack tide positive reports. We usually crab at high slack. Care to comment on tide conditions?
