Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Wow! Where to start?!
Thanks to Corrirod for putting it all together! The accommodations were grand. The CG tour was awesome. The Rogue did a great job of handling the crowd.
Thanks to the CG for letting us invade their "home."
Thanks to the Aux for putting all that time and effort into the class for so few people.
Thanks to the Rogue for accommodating us
Thanks to the Elizabeth Street in for their flexibility and great rates (the rooms are really nice, too)
Thanks to KJ and Dolphinlynn for the time and effort put into the class and hauling all that gear.
And who was it that shared the story of the plane crash? That was awesome! Thanks for sharing! Please post it in a new thread when you get a chance?
Big thanks to Pilar for all the instruction over the last 2 seasons. Made the boating class & test much easier. Thanks, babe, for hanging with The Shrimp and me while we powered through them both. I know you would have much rather been out crabbing than hanging with the "fam" in class all day.
Did I forget anything? Oh yeah, thanks to all the Salty Dogs who showed up. I only wish there was a way to meet EVERYONE. What chaos! What fun!
Three cheers for Rod!
One question, though... How you gonna top that, Rod?

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Thanks Rod and Corri, KJ for the cold swim, The CG for the tour and the CG auxillary for the training and everyone who showed up. I think we should have put Rod in charge of meetings a long time ago.
What's next? Are you trying to get the 'Pirates of the Carribean' ride for the group? We could wear that sucker out riding it all day.

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Thanks for the thanks!
Me and the family had a great time! Enjoyed seeing all the new faces! This will be another great fishing season having all the new Dogs on the water!
I would like to apologize to Mike Stowe(owner of the The Blitz) for the schedule confusion and I hope we have another opportunity to tour his boat and see the new layout and electronics. From what I hear, Mike gives personal tours if you show up with a good bottle of mexican 100% Agave spirits!
Thanks to Bill for sharing his survival story. Bill is a friend of Reel Creel and not currently a Salty Dog member but I'm sure we can change that.
Thanks to Kujo for allowing us to try out his gear in the cold water.
A million thanks goes out to the Coast Guard for giving us free reign of their facility!
Thanks also to the Coast Guard Auxillary who got a few of the Dogs their Boater's License certs on Sunday!
And last but not least, thanks to all the Salty Dogs for participating and contributing to my family's free meal at the TA meeting. We really appreciate it. You guys rock!

A big thank you to Rod.
Only one complaint, too many people and I didn't get a chance to meet all of the new crazies or visit with my friends :depressed:

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Sorry, forgot something.
Keta's post reminded me. I apologize for not getting a bigger space to handle the dinner but it was a tough decision. Trying to juggle a couple factors: one being price and trying to keep the cost down so everyone could participate, and two trying to find a place that could handle making meals for that many people.
I had no idea that many people would show up so I decided to stick with the Rogue because I knew they would be able to keep up with the food orders fairly well, not to mention having a bar, and still be a family restaurant.
The hardest part of the planning is figuring out if everyone that signs up will ACTUALLY show up. Thanks to everyone that participated in my Polls to help me get the counts.

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Show up, roger that, Rod. My only complaint is that of all those who signed up for the boaters license course only 6 or 7 actually showed up. The 3 officers from the CG auxillary were good natured about it but they went to a tremendous effort on a Sunday, all day for the 17 who were going to 'show up'.
The course was free and we owe those folks a huge thank you.

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
I had a great time and it was nice meeting some of the salty dogs. I got a lot of great information from Albicore Tuna Captiain, Tail Chaser and Capt. Kujo and it was a pleasure meeting their better halfs. Rod it was nice talking to you also and cudos for putting together such a great event. I know how hard it is to organize events like this and you deserve a lot of credit. As a newbie, everyone made me feel welcome. I'm just sorry I was not able to meet more of you, but maybe next time.

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Thanks to everyone who shared some insight of how they "really" catch fish. A lot of little secrets were shared that's for sure. And I love to pick brains!! I wanted to especially thank Cap.Kujo for the survival course. The most important thing I learned basically is we've fished a long long time thinking we were perfectly safe out there, when in reality we only have a precious few minutes once we hit the water if proper precautions aren't met. I've relayed this information to my dad as well since we both spend a lot of time on the salt and we're going to invest in some good equipment to give us some precious "time" to be rescued just in case something happens out there. The last I heard was he was using the info to convince my mom to buy a bigger boat!! So anyhow, it was great to meet everyone, and Pilar I want to pick up 4 of those cedar plugs from you when you make the next trip to the store. Just let me know. Stay in touch everyone, and until next time.......

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Dittos - great get together and thanks to everyone for the warm hospitality. It was great meeting so many who post regularly here.
Pilar, the info on gear and technique was fabulous! Thanks for the presentation - made the drive from Seattle easily worth the price of admission - the party was the bonus! Thanks also to Corrirod for putting the event on and arranging the accomodations.
(repost - just to make it official Jen!)

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
ROD, U THE MAN!!!
Thank you ROD for putting it all together. We had a great time and as always its great to put faces with names and shake hands with the boys and girls
Thanks to Captiain KJ, the coastguard and Thanks to my freind Bill Lundy who was the plane crash surviver. Thanks John for the TUNA TACKEL lesson. Rod you shoundn't have to apologize for any thing dude! The whole thing went off great!!!
As always I over do the sprits (jim beam) and fill sorta slow the next day or two So a nice long walk with my more than understang wife and daughter and her frind at the tide pools, up and down the beach was needed to help to wake me. I don't know about guys i couldn't resist feeding the seaguls off the deck that was pretty cool,we would get about twenty or so swooping and diving.
Thanks to all for a good time!!!

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Thanks to all I met and to the many that went out of their way to seek me out and say "hi". As a pretty introverted person (drives my wife nuts!) I tend to not mingle easily. I appologise to several of the new folks as I guess I was not paying close attention, at times and they had questions I didn't hear. I hope Joey was able to field them or other people had the answers for them. It was a great time and I really enjoyed meeting Walt (FullDeck) and Rennie (sp?), at last! Rod, what a great effort...man do you ever do anything half way? I look forward to the next "winter survival social" and, of course, to fishing and carking with many of you this summer. What a group!!!!!

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Thankyou Rod for putting this together. We had a great time.
Thanks Kujo for the great presentation!
We had to leave early so we didnt get a chance to actually meet too many people. If they are going to be this big, a bigger room would be great! Id be happy to kick in a few bucks to help pay for it.
Maybe we can set up a Paypal donation kitty for this cause.

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Thanks Rod!, thanks John, great story from Mexico plane crash surviver, thanks bruce for the invite on the Julie Rose 111 and helping me since I forgot my itinerary. Wow! a lot of people. Hope everyone that is not a Tuna boat captain finds a ride to the tuna grounds, in this group there are a lot of good skippers willing to take on shipmates and deckhands.
Thank you All!

Re: Official TA Meeting "Thank you" Post
Well, Rod, that was just the best......I know how much hard work and time you put into setting it up.
I would like to thank Captain Kujo for a great presentation. I have been going at it for a long time, and he sure changed my mind about a few things.
Thanks to the Coast Guard for the fine presentation, and letting us crawl all over their boats. Wow.... the "VICTORY", I think they said she was built in 1957. She is going to the Smithsonian in a couple of years. What fine condition she is kept. Those folks can be proud of the job they do at that station.
All that I could think about was how great a tuna boat the "47" would make. Twin diesel, 25 knots, and no bar or ocean to rough....!!!! Put on Kim's dry suit, snap in, and if she rolls over, wait 12 seconds and you are on your way again...
And finally it was great to see some of my old fishing friends and meet some new ones. Just not enough time to meet everyone.
Guess, since Dean had problems, and couldn't make it.......we should do it again, before the season starts?
Thanks everyone, Marta and I had a great time.
Jerry

At the risk of sounding redundant... Thanks Rod! I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting, the company, and the networking for a true Tuna Flotilla approach. Thanks to Kujo for the drysuit demo, and thanks again to Wally for the ride home! -D
