I used Barnes original X-bullet data being that bearing suface and oal are very comparable and had no problems. Both in .264 Winchester mag 140gr VLD and .300 winchester 210vld and 190vld. Now that barnes has used cannalure/relief cuts that data would not be reliable.........BS

IMO, variations as a result of rifle bore differances will negate the importance of bearing surface and having/using exact Berger load data. Just use sound handloading principals and use a similar bullet & weight and start at min and work up to max as you would any bullet. Let accuracy vs. pressure signs dictate load data, not some bookfull of data take off some minimum demension pressure barrel which won't produce data even close to our barrels, factory or custom.

The only reason I really even look at the books is to determine which powder (ie burn rate) is best for a particular weight bullet in a given cartridge.
After that, it all shakes out on the target paper.

What caliber & weight Berger are we talking about?

210 gr VLD's out of a .300 Ultra Mag. If anyone has a starting point on this it would be great.

AA8700, start at ~95gr and work up toward 110gr..... .010" to .020 off the lands.
Load up in 1gr increments and let pressure signs and accuracy dictate. Fill in the gaps w/ .5gr when you see some interesting accuracy sweet spots starting to show.
Once you have the powder charge dialed in, adj seating depth to fine tune. Should realize about 3000fps.
Might also check data for Retumbo and RL25.

I would try RL25 @ 82 gr. work up from there. Retumbo at 87gr and work up. This is what im going to try as soon as my 300 Rum is done.
