Are Nubies welcome at the TA Meeting??
Hello all, are nubies welcome to attend the TA meetings? I’ve been lurking in the background for a month w/o posting, trying to get the feel of things, but the excitement of the TA meeting is dragging me in.
I’m with the CG-AUX in Portland, and have taken their training. I’d really like to learn the ways of the Ocean and it bounty. I have a 22ft C-Dory equipped with 70HP Honda, 8hp Honda Kicker, DGPS w/chart plotter, VHF radio, a couple fish finders and down riggers…. along with that, I have a healthy fear of the ocean, which I would dearly love to get rid of. I hope, learning from such experienced folks as you, would go a long way towards getting rid of that fear.
The thought of going out 30 to 50 miles off shore for Tuna makes me grin from ear to ear...but gotta get some experiance first!

Liquid Asset,
"Blue, Do you believe I don't want to see you get hurt?"
"Sir, yes sir"
"Blue you're my boy!"
"Do you all trust that we have left enough rope for the brick to safely hit the ground?"
I love that movie!

What they all said! Welcome. But I have to reiterate what Water Dog said... your life will change forever. You'll start dreaming of a bigger boat and more gear and overnight trips and on and on and on... It's a different world out there.

Re: Are Nubies welcome at the TA Meeting??
This newbie tuna virgin had the TA meeting on the calendar, but I just got a ride for the Sturgeon Challenge. Maybe next time. Until then, I will continue lurking. And fantasizing!
