Black Rocket test ride
She was painted black to intimidate, the Black Rocket was the bad boy on the seas much like Dale Earnhart was on the track. A had recently passed my physical for the test ride and after being fitted with the latest in dry suit technology I took my seat at the rear of the boat. I could see electronics, that appeared to be forward looking radar that was so high tech if you were from Lybia or Iraq you were not allowed to purchase it. As the twin 225's roared to life I could feel my heart beat against the padded steel brace placed in front of me that was designed to hold me in my seat. The trip out of the harbor was misleading, we were in a no wake zone and the boat slid thru the water as calm as a plane on the tarmack readying for flight. Once we cleared the no wake zone, Kujo looked over his shoulder and said “hang on”. From my seat I faintly heard the tower give us permission to take off, and the boat jumped out of the water and started to fly out to sea. From my vantage point we did not appear to be in the water. It was more like every once in a while the SAV came down to punish the water for getting in its way.  Much like an excited school boy I felt the need to relieve myself. I tried to scream to Kujo over the twin engines but it was to late the rocket had already blasted off, this egg was not to be unscrambled. As I hung onto that padded bar with all my might the adrenaline begin to pulse thru my veins. It seemed like a dream, or possibly a nightmare but the ride was over before I knew it. As we gently taxied thru the harbor at the end of the test ride I peeled my eye lids off my forehead and blinked for the first time in hours. As I stepped on the dock my first comment was, “Dry suit my #%;” , ........uh..... When can I go again.
I have never ridden on the black rocket, But that is how I envision it happening some day, thought I would share the dream.

I think Roy has been breathing too much epoxy fumes and feather dust.

Re: Black Rocket test ride
I rode the Black Rocket. The first thing out of my mouth when Kim took the throttle to the stop upon exiting the no wake zone were Holy (not fit for print)!!!!!!! One we crossed the bar and hit the open ocean I think we were in the air about as much as we were in the water. In no time at all we were at the Chicken Ranch yarding the Halibut off the bottom. Just as the other boats were showing up we were leaving with our limits of Halibut. The it was a nice ride to the rock pile for some salmon killing! We limited salmon, a couple nooks and some fat silvers. then it was back to Newport. We were back in port with limits of Halibut and Salmon before most of the Halibut guys.
Ride the Black Rocket, You wont be disappointed!! I wasnt and Ive been in some FAST boats. I rode in an Unlimted Class White Water racing jet boat and we hit 116 mph on the lower Rogue. Ive been from Albany to Corvallis and at around 90mph in another jet boat. The Black Rocket has both of them beat for the excitment.
Wear hearing protection, those twin 225's scream!

Re: Black Rocket test ride
Take a deep breath Roy. Simmer down a bit, you have just experienced a hot flash.
Indeed I am sure it would be a blast to ride the rocket but instead of playing the theme to the Perfect Storm perhaps a little Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone" from Top Gun would be in order. That is if you could actually hear it.
Nice writing Roy. You know we made a jest with Pilar last year when he got all poetic but now I think you are the one Chasing butterflies and squeezing the Charmin.
