Seattle Boat show gem.
Anybody else see the 24' Northriver Seawhawk, Alaskan bulkhead, off shore bracket with a 225 Yami? It is used to be the Almar Sounder, but now NR is going to be making them. Lots of fishing room, but I would want a bigger fishbox  and a second helm Nice looking boat.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
Birdnest, that is a nice boat. I would change a couple things too but they have the ability to customize them so no problem.
My only problem is coming up with $60K !!

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
What.... they didn't offer a "boat show special price"??? Hey, how about those Silver Streaks? I saw a 27' boat I could live with, with a Volvo diesel and nice interior. It was only $144K (I'll bet I could have dickered them down to $143K). They must have really been impressed with my Salty Dogs hat, because he gave me a brocure AND sales CD for FREE! Wow, I was almost tempted to buy the boat on the spot. Well, maybe some other life time.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
A friend of mine purchased a 25' X 9'6" Parker w/ 225 Yamaha 4-stroke fully rigged and ready to go from Islands Marine Center at the show. Nice boat. Now he can join us on the TUNA! grounds off Westport this summer.
The boat even came with electric d'riggers and a 9.9 Yamaha kicker w/ TR1 and power lift bracket. I notice a lot of the new boats are dispensing with traditional instrumentation and going with the one screen that tells all: chart plotter, radar, engine data, fish finder, flow meter, etc. Pretty coool.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
The advertised price was about $78K. I would guess that included about $17K in rigging. I know my friend did some negotiating.....

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
For those who like the 24 ft Northriver, you should check out the TITAN listed on boat trader and at brinsfields. I looked at this boat myself. It's built in Albany. Built tough with an aircraft carrier bow. To me it looks like a lot more boat for quite a bit less money.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
NoCents, I agree, that 30' Ocean Sport was fabulous and actually a bargain at 218k (if anything at that price level can be a bargain)

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
The one that I found was the Arima Sea Ranger. I really liked the idea of a quality boat at a much more reasonable price. Still a bit of dough, but not 70k. Obviously the Orca and the Seasport are a nicer boat, but they are twice the cost.
From what I could gather the Arima is very seaworthy, safe, and reliable. Looks like a great fishing boat. I liked the 19, 21 and the 22. They all had their advantages. I'm thinking a 21 Sea Ranger with the skip tower as it seems to be able to fish the puget sound winter weather (summer too of course) and drag somebody on sticks in the summer.
Did you guys check this boat out and if so what did you think?

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
Salmon Stalker, Arima has a great reputation. Can't remember where I read it but some agency uses the Arima up in Alaska for their boat. Think it was Dutch Harbor. Now you know it's gotta get rough up there.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
Salmon Stalker,
I have a 19 Sea Ranger and I really enjoy it. One of these days I'd like to upgrade to a 21 with a skip tower. However I have no complaints about my boat.
Like all boats there are pluses and minuses, but I've yet to run into an Arima owner that didn't like their boat. It's not a true blue water boat and it won't cut through the chop like a deep vee, but it will handle some pretty snotty stuff if you slow down. You can power it with a lot less than a deep vee. A 130 would be more than enough on the 21.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
Scaup.....Do you ski/wakeboard behind that thing in the summer? If not could you? My primary function would be to fish the sound and large lakes, but I would sure like to have the option to take it up to my brother-in-laws lake house and have a 2nd boat to ski behind.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Seattle Boat show gem.
Salmon Stalker,
I don't ski behind mine, but I know people do. Arima's hull design allows it to get up on plane quickly. Arima's are not speed demon professional ski boats, their max hull speed is around 40 no matter how much horsepower you put on them (maybe a couple mph less for the 21 footer) but their speed is more than adequate for recreational use. I have a 115hp on mine and it tops out at 36mph fully loaded with fuel, water, gear, and 4 people in the boat.
There is a picture of someone skiing behind one at the Arima web site. You can find more info about the boats at that site. Since Arima isn't an Ifish sponser I can't post the link, but if you do a Google search for Arimaboats you'll find the web site.
