I think that is usually more Februaryish.
Seems some years the peak or tail end of the run coinsides with the Wine festable.

This year I'll be looking at smelt in the Cowlitz though.

Hey Born to be Wild now that you have guided myself and Love2fish we should guide you on the smelt up here, they can be very very hard to catch and a local smelt guide can help show you the ropes.

Last year we hit them mid FEB. My kids had a blast and I got a lot of bait that day. They work great under hoochies in the salt and the make a great kwikfish wrap because these babies are very oily.

Yea Chris, that was a lot of fun.
Maybe we can do it again this year but I think Ralph, I mean Steve might want to fish the rocks instead.

Steve's A-OK and I'm looking forward to throwing some jigs off the rocks with him.

Let me know if you have a guide trip up this way for smelt and have an extra seat and I'll jump right in.
I got some new pee wee wee smelt wigglers that are hot.

Take care,

Dan

By the way Bernie, that is an awesome fishery for the kids to have a blast and they are usually willing to forfiet their catch.
