Thanks

Chesapeake by James Michener has quite a bit about market hunting. It's fiction but fairly accurate. I read the book when I was a kid and still remember the story about the punt gun blowing the back of the boat out.

regards, aw

I just picked up a book by Terry Grosz that is called "Slaughter" it is awesome!!! It is all about market gunning in California.

Terry Grosz also has a series of books that are a collection of wildlife law stories. His first book is Wildlife wars. Many of these stories are also Market gunning stories.

Look up sinkbox.com. I think that's the site. It's operated by Worth Mathewson. He has a couple of books that I think have small sections on market hunting. More importantly, if you send him a email, I'm sure he'd be able to give you a very large list of titles to look for and where to find them. He's pretty knowledgeable on old waterfowling literature.

I think there's a book called "Market Gunners" or something like that, as well.

No waterfowling library would be complete without "The Outlaw Gunner" by Harry M. Walsh. Very interesting book.

GAME WARS by Marc Reisner (1991) is EXTREMELY good reading about market hunting and other wildlife violations.

I used this book as part of my studies for an upper level wildlife management class at UW (Wyoming).

I've read the "Outlaw Gunner" that's a good one. Imagine snuggling up to one of those huge punt guns prone in a sneak boat. Ouch.
